DOT Tests $1 Support Despite dotUSD Stablecoin Launch
Polkadot's native token slid to $1.03 as the project rolled out dotUSD. The move caught little buying interest and left a rounded top intact on the four-hour chart.
Stablecoin Rollout Fails to Spark Demand
The daily chart shows DOT sitting right on the line that has held since midsummer. Volume stayed light even after the announcement, suggesting the market had already priced in any near-term utility gains from a Polkadot-branded stablecoin. Traders who bought the rumor on earlier ecosystem upgrades watched the position go the other way once details emerged.
That leaves the token vulnerable to a clean break of the $1 handle. A daily close beneath it would open the door to the next obvious shelf near 0.85, a level last visited during the March liquidity crunch.
Broader Crypto Backdrop Still Weighs
Polkadot is not trading in isolation. Bitcoin dominance has crept higher in recent sessions while altcoin-beta names like DOT continue to lag the majors. Funding rates on perpetuals have flipped modestly negative, indicating shorts are comfortable and longs are getting squeezed on any bounce attempt.
The launch itself — which some hoped would boost utility inside the parachain economy — didn't move the needle enough to offset that macro pressure. Other Layer-1 tokens with native stables have shown similar muted reactions when the overall risk tone stays cautious.
What Positioned Traders Are Watching
Short interest has built steadily since the September high near 1.45. Stops for those positions sit just above the recent swing high on the four-hour chart, so any quick reclaim of 1.12 could trigger a squeeze. On the flip side, leveraged longs that entered above 1.20 have already been stopped or are underwater and adding to supply on rallies.
Options flow remains light, with most activity concentrated in weekly puts struck at 0.95. That tells you where the fast money sees the next test if support fails.
Two Readings of the Same Price Action
One camp argues the stablecoin gives Polkadot a cheaper on-ramp for new users and could eventually feed fee revenue back to stakers once adoption scales. The other side points out that DOT still lacks a clear catalyst beyond incremental tech upgrades and remains hostage to Bitcoin's direction. Both views can coexist until the chart resolves the current range.
Technically the rounded top argues for continuation lower unless buyers can force a daily close back above 1.15. Momentum indicators have rolled over but are not yet oversold, leaving room for further drift.
Watch how the pair behaves around the 1.00–1.02 zone over the next two sessions. A rejection there keeps the door open for a relief bounce, while acceptance would likely accelerate the move toward the March lows. Anyone running size through this level should size positions accordingly because a break of psychological support often produces the sharpest moves in either direction.
