NFT Sales Slide 15% to $37.5M Even as Addresses Double
NFT sales volumes fell 15.28% to $37.54 million over the seven days ending September 19. CryptoSlam's data showed the decline clearly. Yet buyer and seller addresses more than doubled in the same stretch.
Why the Address Spike Did Not Save Volumes
More participants entered the market. That usually signals fresh interest. Here the numbers moved in opposite directions. Average sale prices must have taken a beating. Ethereum still led the pack by a wide margin.

The Broader Crypto Backdrop
Ethereum has carried most NFT activity since the 2021 boom. When NFT demand softens, ETH flows often follow. The latest dip arrives after a relatively quiet summer for on-chain activity. No major catalyst appeared to reverse the trend. Bitcoin's own sideways movement did not help sentiment either.
Anyone long ETH has seen this pattern before. NFT cycles rarely move in isolation from the broader risk tone. Lower volumes on the collectibles side can weigh on gas fees and, by extension, network utility narratives that traders price in.
What the Data Leaves Unanswered
Will the extra addresses stick around once prices stabilise? Or will they fade if another leg lower develops? The doubling in participants could prove fleeting if blue-chip collections keep printing lower highs. Historical analogues from late 2022 show similar address spikes that reversed within two weeks when macro conditions turned.
Watch your position sizing here. This is the kind of move that catches leveraged traders off guard when they assume volume follows participation. The market has delivered plenty of those lessons already this year.
Still, the raw numbers do not guarantee a sustained downtrend. One decent blue-chip drop or celebrity mint could shift the tape quickly. ETH traders will be monitoring wallet activity on the top collections for any sign the bid is returning.
